Description

The HE6LC is a three terminal device designed specifically to protect the signal inputs to the vehicle detector unit. This device offers protection not only in common mode (line to ground), but in the differential mode (line to line) also. The third terminal is ground and is also used as the mounting device for the HE6LC. Specially selected solid state clamping elements have been chosen for the electrical design of the HE6LC. These elements have been arranged in such a manner as to appear virtually invisible to the detector unit, while offering the maximum surge protection available on the market today.

The HE6LCB surge protector is a two spade terminal block device designed to mount on terminal blocks with 9/16” spacing. The spade terminals are connected across the signal inputs of the detector for differential mode protection and the wire is grounded to protect against common mode damage.

When installed, this unit offers optimal protection from transient surges in both the differential and common modes and remains virtually invisible to the detector.

The VLP7 and VLP9 are three terminal device designed specifically to protect the signal inputs to the vehicle detector unit. These devices offer protection in the common mode (line to ground) and differential mode (line to line). Any of the three terminals may be used as ground, while the other two serve as inputs for two signal inputs. Specially selected solid state clamping elements have been chosen for the electrical design of the HE6LC series. These elements have been arranged in such a manner as to appear virtually invisible to the detector unit, while offering the maximum surge protection available on the market today.

Installation

The HE6LC units are installed as close as possible to the point where the vehicle loop detector wires enter the controller cabinet. In this manner, the protector lead wires can be kept to the shortest length possible. The shorter the lead wires, the better the protection.

Connect one of the flexible leads to each end of the loop. The ground stud should be grounded to the lowest impedance ground available.

The HE6LCB units are installed under the equipment-side screws on the terminal strip. The ground wire should be grounded to the lowest impedance ground available.

The HE6LC-TSG has been designed to be installed on the equipment-side of the terminal strip. Simply loosen the three corresponding terminal strip screws and insert the HE6LC-TSG spade lugs under them. Remember, any one of the lugs may be used as ground. This unit is designed to fit either a terminal strip with 9/16” centers or 7/16” centers. Be sure specify which size when ordering.
