The HE75CXR surge suppressor is a
multi-stage, solid-state product
designed to suppress the
differential voltage impulses
between the inner and outer
conductors of an RF transmission
line associated with natural
electrical charges that exceed the
device turn-on voltage. When
properly installed outside to a low
resistance ground, as per
EIA–RS–222C standard, the HE75CXR
will provide a conductive path to
the grounding system for said
voltages up to the rated
current-handling capability. The
HE75CXR may be ordered with BNC
connectors for CCTV, Data and Audio
applications or the popular “F” type
female connectors which make the
suppressor compatible with CATV
installations. Other connectors are
available on request at a nominal
charge.
Internally, the HE75CXR utilizes
a single element gas discharge tube.
This tube is highly recognized as
the “CADILLAC” of gas tube
arrestors. When an over-voltage
condition is present, the gas tube
appears as a short circuit. When the
voltage surge is dissipated, the gas
tube returns to its normal high
impedance state automatically.
Overvoltage transients are also
addressed via silicone avalanche
diodes. PTCs (resettable fuses) are
also utilized within the protection
scheme.
The transmission line is only one
means of having impulses enter your
equipment. We strongly recommend
that power line protection also be
installed.
Be sure to follow good grounding
practices to include minimum bends
and large bending radii. Make sure
all grounds are tied together.
